Caterham has just rolled out the Superlight Twenty Special Edition and the order books for it are already open.
The new Caterham Superlight Twenty Special Edition has been officially unveiled and it is celebrating 20 years since the original Superlight has went on sale. The 1996 model has been put together in 200 units and it came to a stop in 2004. Only 20 units of the new special edition will be produced and all of them will have the sport suspension pack, a lot of carbon fiber body parts like aero screen, rear wings, cycle wings and nose. The body is made from aluminum and the lack of paint has lowered its weight by 6 kg.
Other goodies found on the sporty vehicle include titanium finished chassis, the carbon panels inside it, the unique carbon embroidered seats borrowed from the Seven 620 R, the individually numbered plaque mounted on the dashboard, bespoke gauges and so on. Under its hood, we can find the 1.6 liter Ford Sigma engine, which is producing a total of 135 HP (101 kW). Power is being sent to the wheels through a close-ratio six-speed transmission and a limited-slip differential. From 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h), the model needs 4.9 seconds and it can go up to a top speed of 122 mph (196 km/h). The 2016 Caterham Superlight Twenty Special Edition is weighing just 498 kg (in the standard version) and the goodies list includes the weather equipment, paint and heater. The starting price of the model is 29,995 GBP.
