Chevrolet has released the official performance figures of the new Camaro generation.
With some tough competitors to go up against, the new generation of the Chevrolet Camaro is getting inches closer to its future customers as the company has just released the performance figures of the popular muscle car. According to the company, the range-topping version, the Camaro SS, is making use of a 6.2 liter V8 engine, producing 455 HP. Thanks to this, the 0 to 60 mph acceleration is made in 4.3 seconds with a manual transmission and in 4.0 seconds with an automatic.
The quarter mile takes 12.3 seconds in this version and it is made at 116 mph. It is no surprise that the Camaro SS is slightly more powerful than the range-topping Mustang GT but let’s not forget that the Ford developed vehicle has a slightly smaller engine under its hood. There is also a 3.6 liter V6 engine available for the new Camaro generation and this has been rated at 335 HP. From 0 to 60 mph, this needs 5.1 seconds and the quarter mile is made in 13.5 seconds at 103 mph. The four-cylinder 2.0 liter turbocharged engine is less powerful than the 2.3 liter EcoBoost used on the Mustang and it is rated at 275 HP. The 0 to 60 mph sprint takes 5.4 seconds and the quarter mile is made in 14 seconds. The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro starts from 26,695 USD, with the 995 USD destination charge, while for the Camaro SS you will have to pay 37,295 USD. The muscle car will arrive at dealerships nationwide this fall.
