The first rendering with the new generation of the Chevrolet Volt is showing us how the model in question may look like in a completely new body style.
After it was officially presented to the public just last week, during the 2015 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), the new generation of the Chevrolet Volt is now being highlighted once again, this time with the help of a new rendering, which is showing it in a 3-door body style. The image posted above has been signed by X-Tomi and despite being a simple rendering, don’t act too surprised if you will see it in a dealership nearby, in the future.
The 2016 Chevrolet Volt is coming with a new front grille, an angular front fascia, an aerodynamic roofline, sweeping shoulderline, black window trim, 17-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin Energy Saver all-season tires and several other goodies. The interior design comes with the MyLink infotainment, blue ambient lighting, floating center control, 10 airbags, rearview camera, advanced park assist, front automatic braking, lane change alert on the side blind zone alert, lane departure warning and more.
Chevy says that the powertrain of the new Volt is 45 kg lighter than the one of its predecessor and the engine is producing 101 HP (75 kW) while the electric motor is good for 149 HP (111 kW) and 398 Nm (294 lb-ft) of torque. In electric mode, the new Volt can travel up to 80 km (50 miles) and the overall range stands at 676 km (429 miles). Recharging its battery can take 4.5h using a 240V outlet.
