The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro will come with a revolutionary new engine, a four-cylinder unit, following the same path as one of its main rivals, the Ford Mustang.
With Ford offering a brand new 2.3 liter four-cylinder EcoBoost engine for the newest generation of the Mustang, as a mid-range option, the North American based automaker Chevrolet couldn’t stay aside from this direct battle and it’s planning on offering a similar unit for the 2016 Camaro. The announcement hasn’t been made official just yet but according to the guys from Automobile Magazine, the model in question will be getting a four-cylinder engine option.
Our source is saying that the new unit will come in the shape of a 2.0 liter four-cylinder turbocharged which is currently producing up to 272 HP (202 kW) and 399 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque in the Cadillac CTS. Besides this engine, the updated version of the Camaro will be riding on the ling wheelbase Alpha platform, which is also used on the same Cadillac CTS. Retro inspired styling is expected along with new technologies. More details on the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro will be announced sometimes next year, when the model is expected to be introduced.
