The 2016 Ford Galaxy is a brand new model which has been officially unveiled by the North American based automaker.
The large MPV is borrowing some of the styling cues from the new S-MAX and it is also bringing the Aston Martin-inspired front grille. The model is promising a spacious cabin, which can host seven full-size seats, with the possibility of folding flat the second and third rows. Under the floor, the company is offering a hidden storage, which has a 20-liter capacity, while on the door bins, 1.5-liter bottles can be placed. There is also a media storage area in the center stack, for smartphones, along with under-seat storage and more cargo room in the instrument panel top.
The third row of seats has the armrest storage bins and cup holders and an additional 40 mm of headroom. The vehicle is also packing the child-watch mirror in the new seat technology, along with the Ford SYNC2 infotainment system with Voice Control and Emergency Assistance. The hands-free liftgate can be configured too and it can be opened and closed by a kicking motion underneath the rear bumper, similar to the system offered by BMW.
Some of the safety systems of the MPV are the Intelligent Speed Limiter, Roll Stability Control, Curve Control, second-row seat side airbags, Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Keeping Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition, Cross Traffic Alert, Front Split View Camera and so on. The engine lineup includes the 1.5L EcoBoost with 160 HP, the 2.0L EcoBoost with 240 HP and the 2.0 liter TDCi diesel rated at either 120 HP, 150 HP or 180 HP. There is also a bi-turbodiesel 2.0L TDCi with 210 HP and 450 Nm of torque. No pricing details are know at this time.
