With the German brand celebrating its 100th anniversary this year it’s no wonder the organizers of the Goodwood Festival of Speed have decided the Central Feature of the even should be Bavaria’s BMW.
There are numerous programs and events scheduled by BMW itself over the course of the year in honor of this honorable century of existence and there are also tie-in features, such as the Central Feature during the 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed, which is scheduled to go down in June. This Central Feature is the main object during the festival – and throughout the years we have seen numerous sculptures dedicated to specific brands or celebrations. The Central Feature is always there to “dominate the Goodwood skyline” and so far we only saw teasers of the monument dedicated to BMW this year.
We can’t tell just yet what the sculpture is about, but hints are redirecting us towards BMW preparing a statue that will include some of its race cars. The official Goodwood Festival of Speed site is describing the BMW monument as the link to the “mouth-watering” lineup of cars and bikes that will be present during the celebrations. Participants will be treated to the 1940 Mille Miglia winning 328 Superleggara, the 1999 Le Mans winning V12 LMR, the 1983 Formula One World Championship winning Brabham-BMW BT52, or the Isle of Man TT dominating S1000 RR bike.
