New performance specifications on the 2016 MX-5 have been recently released by Mazda but don’t expect a full reveal because the company is still keeping a lot of things secret at this time.
After being officially unveiled during the 2014 Paris Motor Show, back in October, the new generation of the Mazda MX-5 is being highlighted once more, this time with the help of the company which has released some new performance specifications on it. According to the car manufacturer, the 1.5 liter SKYACTIV-G petrol burner will be producing a total output of 129 HP (96 kW) and it will have a peak torque of 150 Nm (110 lb-ft).
If you were interested in the 2.0 liter SKYACTIV-G, you will be disappointed because the car manufacturer didn’t release any details on this, but rumor has it that it will be less powerful than the one of its predecessor, which came with 167 HP (124 kW) and 190 Nm (140 lb-ft) of torque. However, the dropped weight and the new technologies added to the popular roadster will probably not make it slower in terms of 0 to 100 km/h acceleration and top speed.
The new generation of the Mazda MX-5 is getting a 50:50 weight distribution, a rear multi-link setup, a front double wishbone, rear-wheel drive, electric power assisted rack and pinion steering, front ventilated, rear solid discs and it is standing at 105 mm shorter, 10 mm wider and 20 mm lower than its predecessor. The KODO design language is making it instantly recognizable.
