The first images with the upcoming 2016 Toyota Hilux are showing its front fascia and rear end for the very first time.
The development of a new Toyota Hilux generation is no longer a surprise considering the fact that the model has been already caught on camera by spy photographers but it seems that work on the popular pickup truck is far more advanced than initially believed as the image posted above is showing us. The 2016 Toyota Hilux will be coming with a familiar design which is similar to the 2016 Tacoma showed last month, at NAIAS, but slightly toned down.
Besides the exterior design, the cabin of the new Toyota Hilux will also be updated and we can expect some better quality materials along with new gizmos. As far as the engine lineup goes, the Japanese vehicle is believed to get improved diesel engines, but don’t act too surprised if you will see the current 3.0 liter or even the smaller 2.5 liter D-4D engines, in a different form, connected to new transmissions.
The current Toyota Hilux is in its seventh generation and this has been introduced back in 2005. Over the years, it has received several updates but the need for a completely new one is high. The current model is being put together in China, Thailand, Pakistan, South Africa, Venezuela and Argentina and it is offered in two body styles, with a front-engine and rear-wheel / four-wheel drive. It is currently coming with three petrol engines and four diesel units, connected to a 5-speed manual, 4-speed automatic or 5-speed automatic gearbox.
