2016 Volkswagen Golf R to get a manual option image

A manual transmission option will be added on the Volkswagen Golf R for the 2016 model year.

The 2016 Volkswagen Golf R will be coming with a manual transmission option. The announcement hasn’t been made official just yet but if you were hoping to add the hot hatch to your garage equipped with the manual gearbox, than we have some good news for you. According to the guys from Car and Driver, Volkswagen is preparing a manual option for the vehicle for the 2016 model year, once it will debut next summer.

The most powerful Golf ever to be sold in the United States is carrying a starting price of 36,595 USD, including the 820 USD destination charge, and it has standard features such as the Bluetooth and iPod support, 5.8-inch touch screen display, push button start, heated front seats, dual zone climate control, rearview camera and others. Power is coming from the 2.0 liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine, which is rated at 292 HP (218 kW) and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) of torque. AT the moment, the unit is sending power to the AWD 4Motion system through the 6-speed DSG transmission.
