The German automaker has decided to feature a preview of the new 2017 Audi R8 V10 Plus Exclusive special series set to premiere in front of the worldwide audience of the Los Angeles Auto Show later this month.
The model is now flaunting its full-LED headlights packing a laser beam – and you may remember that some years ago there was a race between Audi and BMW to be the first production car equipped with laser lights. Audi had the R8 LMX special edition but BMW was quicker and first delivered examples of the plug-in hybrid i8 with the optional laser tech. Audi is now announcing the US-spec R8 V10 Plus Exclusive Edition with full-LED headlights and a laser high beam module in each cluster. It’s Audi’s first US car with laser lights and also the first model in its portfolio to have laser lights and sweeping front turn signal indicators. The laser beam will become active once the speed exceeds 40 mph (64 kph) and work with the LED high beam.
Aside from the laser tech, the new limited series R8 gets a range of perks from the Audi Exclusive catalog, including a full leather package in a two-tone black and orange hue, illuminated door sills with a carbon matte finish, along with an Alcantara headliner and bespoke floor mats. The only paint available is Quantum Gray combined with a carbon sideblade featuring an orange stripe. The R8 V10 Plus Exclusive Edition also has high-gloss anthracite 20-inch wheels and standard carbon ceramic brakes. Prices kick off at $229,200 and just 25 units will be manufactured.
