It’s been seven years since Mopar took on the tradition of presenting a hand-crafted limited edition of an FCA model each passing year – and for 2017 the Chicago Auto Show revealed the Challenger to be the winner of the lottery.
The special division is also celebrating its 80th birthday so in recognition of eight decades of work, they did some more work – they will be delivering to select customers 80 special Challengers in a two-tone paint consisting of Pitch Black and Contusion Blue and 80 more of them in a combination of Pitch Black and Billet Silver. The craftsmen at Mopar have even decided to apply the shades by hand. The crew also selected a civilized tune – the transition is subtle because it happens right at the belt line. And there’s even a hand-painted Mopar 392 logo on the driver side front quarter panel.
In addition, the Mopar team also used a Shaker hood scoop in matching Pitch Black, black exhaust tips from the SRT Hellcat and 20-inch wheels with semi-gloss accents. Mopar’s 2017 Challenger limited edition also gets some goodies on the inside – performance seats and Tungsten-color stitching. Under the hood resides a 6.4-liter V8 good for 485 horsepower (362 kilowatts) and 475 pound-feet (644 Newton-meters).
