The Japanese automaker’s newly updated Land Cruiser off-roader wasn’t the only representative of the crossover segment, because the quirky C-HR crossover received a new interpretation in the form of the Hy-Power concept.
It’s interesting to note that while the standard variant of the funky crossover has a total of 122 horsepower coming from its hybridized 1.8-liter gasoline engine, the newly developed hybrid powertrain comes with added oomph – though Toyota actually stopped short of actually delivering the numbers, which is kind of killing the point of presenting a concept named Hy-Power.
Meanwhile, it seems not much work has been attributed to this near-production prototype, because allegedly the European design team “did not want to use heavy customization or “bolted-on” elements to achieve the impact they were looking for.” So this concept doesn’t stray far from the standard model, and only comes with a new Dark Carbon silver paint with a matte finish mixed with glossy black accents. More dark touches can be observed throughout, including on the large 20-inch wheels with a two-tone paint. Toyota’s last exterior appearance detailing includes a special film coating the roof with a crystalline pattern combining black with anodized orange, that’s also been plastered onto the A-pillars and side mirror caps. The interior as well carries the exterior theme – black upholstery mixed with Burning Orange accents.
