The BMW 5 Series Touring has been premiered online not long ago as the practical brother of the luxury sedan – and now we have live images from the Geneva catwalk, complete with the newly released M Performance guise.
Making its world debut during the Swiss event is not only the regular wagon version, but also the upgraded version with the sporty body pack – the exterior brings a more aggressive body kit with front bumper add-ons made from carbon fiber, rear diffuser, which can also be had with the same lightweight material as an option. Side sills won’t be missed, and the same goes for the carbon fiber side mirror caps and the black kidney grille – and there are also accent strips and the traditional badges. The cream on top must be the lightweight 20-inch alloys available either in Orbit Grey or with a two-tone hue. The German automaker can also deliver a beefier braking system – at an additional cost, of course.
Inside the cabin there’s an Alcantara-wrapped M Performance steering wheel, and on the presented 540i xDrive Touring there’s also an optional performance power kit for the turbocharged straight-six 3.0-liter engine. It massages the mill for an additional 34 horsepower (25 kilowatts) and 37 pound-feet (50 Newton-meters) of torque for a total of 360 hp (265 kW) and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm). There’s even an optional M Performance exhaust system for the 540i xDrive, 530i and diesel-powered 520d and the 530d / 530d xDrive.
