The Italian automaker has presented in front of the worldwide audience of the Geneva Motor Show a range of special edition models to stand tribute to the 60th anniversary of the 1957 3500 GT.
The Maserati GranTurismo and GranCabrio are having unknown fates in the near future – with reports of getting the retirement ticket – but that won’t happen until the Italian premium automaker gives them a special treat with the new Special Edition models. Limited to just 400 examples, they feature a carbon fiber hood, and bare carbon fiber on the front splitter, door handles, side mirrors, and rear lip spoiler. The exterior is also evocative of the hue worn by the 1957 250F Formula One car of Juan Manuel Fangio thanks to the three-layer New Rosso Italiano red paint. Owners can also select Bianco Birdcage white and Grigio Lava gray, while the 20-inch wheels feature a gloss black finish and “1957 – 2017” branding on the center cap.
The cabin features full Poltrona Frau leather or a mix of hides and Alcantara, alongside arbon fiber trim for the center console, paddle shifters, instrument cluster surround, and portions of the door panels – there are also carbon fiber door sill plates and a plaque identifying the Special Edition model. The limited-edition GranTurismo and GranCabrios get the 460-horsepower 4.7-liter V8 driving the rear axle and buyers can opt for the six-speed MC Shift electro-acuated gearbox or a six-speed MC Auto Shift automatic.
