Volkswagen opted to present in front of the worldwide audience of the Geneva Motor Show the new Multivan 70 Years of the Bulli special edition – naturally honoring the flower power minivan that entered legend.
VW is on its way towards delivering a sustainable electric mobility future, but they’re also looking back to the glory days of old – 70 years ago the incredible story of the Transproter kicked off with a sketch of a vehicle type that was nowhere to be found around the world. It was the work of Dutch VW importer Ben Pon, who visited the Wolfsburg plant and noticed an interesting vehicle that inspired him – the Plattenwagen (the sketch can be seen in the image gallery). Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has authored the 70 Years of the Bulli special edition, in order to mix “the charm of the classic retro style with technology and quality of today.”
The limited series is based on the newest generation Transporter in Comfortline trim and comes with a unique two-tone, yellow-white (Candy White and Metallic Kurkuma Yellow) exterior paint with chrome wheels. There’s also an anniversary sticker on the rear window and the chrome side mirror housings – there are also optionally available 18-inch Disc classic wheels as opposed to the standard 17-inch Davenport alloys. Inside there are tinted windows, Bulli lettering, and stainless steel inserts. The seats have been graced with a new Visitamo half-leather upholstery, and the floor has been covered with color-matching Dark Wood.
