The future generation of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class has started its tests at the company’s headquarters in Stuttgart, as our spy photographers have recently found out.
If you were concerned that Mercedes-Benz has forgotten of its E-Class and only focused on the development of the C-Class and E-Class, think again, because the mid-size luxury sedan is now getting ready to receive a new generation. The model in question has been spotted while being tested out near the company’s headquarters. The vehicle is expected to grow in size and have a longer wheelbase which will translate into more space for the rear passengers.
The new generation of the E-Class will continue to be offered in the same body styles, the sedan, the wagon, the coupe and the convertible and it will also provide the basis for the CLS. The upcoming E-Class will come with brand new three- and four-cylinder engines under its hood and the range topper E63 AMG will pack a 4.0 liter twin turbo under its hood, the same one used on the new AMG GT and also the same one which will make its way on the C63 AMG. As far as design goes, the model will resemble with the new C-Class and S-Class. The future E-Class is believed to be introduced close to the end of next year or even in 2016, which will make it a 2017 model year.
