2017 Mini 1499 GT taps into British heritage image

The iconic brand has released yet another new special edition of its ubiquitous Mini – this time aimed at younger customers who don’t want to get their pockets emptied but still love the brand and its heritage.

The Mini 1499 GT will be sold exclusively in the United Kiingdom for £299 per month and comes in the form of a beefed up Mini One – retaining the 101-horsepower (75-kilowatt), 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine and six-speed manual gearbox. You won’t mistake it for any other Mini One though, thanks to the addition of a full John Cooper Works bodykit and black 17-inch JCW wheels, along with the limited hues – Midnight Black and gold, or Pepper White with black decals. Inside the maker offers JCW sports seats, JCW badging and a leather multifunction steering wheel with red stitching.

Mini fans will surely recognize the decals – as they pay homage to the original’s Mini 1275 GT version. Just 1499 units of the new special edition will be manufactured, with the three-door model being the only option, with a list price of £16,990, the model arriving in dealerships next month. Mini is also offering a deal – £299 deposit and £299 per month for the next 48 months, with a 10,000-mile annual limit and included insurance.
