2017 Nissan Note, Japan-spec, leaks early – also has hybrid version image

The Nissan Note is going for a major update at home in Japan, with a leak showcasing the significant stylistic changes of the home market model – which is also available with a hybrd powertrain.

These leaked images showcase the facelifted Japan-spec 2017 Nissan Note getting a major overhaul – with a bold and powerful front fascia stance, which might also trickle down to the international versions, such as the American Versa Note. Nissan’s V Motion is placed up front and the vertical portions are linked to bigger headlights. The new styling also touches the lower portion with rectangular foglights at the corners and a broad intake in the center. The side mirrors also show small protrusions on the bottom –either for cameras or for the blind spot monitor sensors.

The update could also be given to the European Note and the Versa Note in the US, given the fact that Nissan’s model is sitting on a global platform and the company will look to have economies of scale. There’s also word of a hybrid powertrain with the internal combustion engine acting as a generator or in conjunction with the electric motor to deliver power. This green powertrain meanwhile could remain exclusive to Japan as the automaker uses different drivetrains according to region.
