2017 Ram 1500 Lone Star Silver Edition introduced in Texas image

The US truck maker has decided the Texas sun – aka the State Fair of Texas – is the best place to reveal some of its most important 2017 model year updates.

The 2017 Ram 1500 Lone Star Silver Edition is also a complete novelty in the truck maker’s lineup, and comes as a state fair debut that will only be available to the stylish Texan pickup customers. On the other hand, the crowd at hand is also the best venue to showcase the rest of implemented upgrades. The Ram 1500 Lone Star trim is already available as an exclusive Texas affair, and has been tremendously successful – with over half the sales of the model. The new Silver Edition sees Ram adding new chrome bits to the grille surround and mesh insert, while a milled-aluminum badge sits in the center. There are also matching chrome parts for the belt moldings, side mirrors, 20-inch wheels, and front tow hooks. The interior has owners choosing between bucket seats in Canyon Brown and Light Frost Beige or Black and Diesel Gray. The pack will become available during the fourth quarter as a $900 option.

The rest of the range also has updates or new options. The Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 in Limited trim get a black “RAM” logo across the tailgate for $195. The Longhorn trim adds new standard features: chrome grille and matching belt trim and the 1500 Longhorn gets Keyless Go, SmartBeam headlights, and rain-sensing wipers. Meanwhile, the 2017 Ram 2500 and 3500 in the Laramie, Longhorn, and Limited trims have a standard 6.4-liter V8 and the Longhorn and Limited versions will pack updated Bilstein shocks, too, and they are optional on all trims of the 2500 as part of a new 4×4 Off-Road package. The latter also adds a limited-slip differential, transfer case skid plate, and fender flares.
