While Ford offers the F-150 Raptor for $49, 520 complete with a 3.5-liter V6 and 450 hp, the competition from Ram ups the scale a little bit – including in terms of pricing.
That’s because the off-road rival for the Blue Oval is not based on the Ram 1500 Rebel as the design would suggest – but the heavy-duty Ram 2500 series. But the 2017 Power Wagon fulfills the same goal – spend quality time in the dirt. This is because it gets a custom styling resembling the Rebel, as well as locking differentials, an electric disconnecting sway bar, and under body protection, just to name a few. The all-terrain pickup kicks off at $53,015 (after the $1,320 destination charge) and should be available in showrooms before the start of 2017.
The cabin features just about the same level of protection as the underbody – with ire-tread-embossed seats and a Power Wagon logo on the upper bolsters. The Power Wagon gets under the hood a beefy 6.4-liter V8 with 410 horsepower (306 kilowatts) and 429 pound-feet (581 Newton-meters) of torque, linked to a six-speed automatic gearbox and a four-wheel drive system with front and rear locking differentials. The 33-inch tires and the 12,000-pound-rated (5,443 kilograms) Warn winch should do the trick if you still manage to get into trouble.
