2017 Renault Megane rendered image

A rendering with the Renault Megane is showing us how the model may look like in its next generation, as it should be hitting the market in a couple of years.

The current version of the Renault Megane has been around since 2008 and it is ready to receive a new generation. The upcoming model is believed to be making its way onto the market in a couple of years, during the 2016 Paris Motor Show, and it should be offered in the same body styles as the current model, meaning 5-door hatchback, 3-door hatchback and estate, just like its main competitors, the Astra, the Focus or the Golf.

The rendering posted above, which has been signed by Theophilus Chin, has been based on the Eolab Concept. The one-off vehicle has been shown at the 2014 Paris Motor Show and it was already rumored to be put into production. The model was capable of burning just 1 liter of fuel every 100 km, the equivalent of 282 mpg UK or 235 mpg US, and it was emitting 22 g/km of CO2. Power was being provided by a plug-hybrid powertrain, with a 3-cylinder 1.0 liter gasoline burner and an electric motor.
