That fabulous Yenko 2017 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport now has a correspondent down the line in the Chevrolet Camaro – getting the same supercharged V8 dropped under the hood.
The same company – Specialty Vehicle Engineering of Toms River, New Jersey – is behind this new Yenko project – remember this modern iteration of the Yenko name has nothing to do with the famous muscle cars from Yenko Chevrolet of Canonsburg, Pennsylvania – instead SVE makes use of the name under license from the owner, General Marketing Capital Incorporated. The Yenko 2017 Camaro comes to life initially as a regular Camaro SS, and the owner can use the coupe or convertible body styles, but also choose between the 6-speed manual and 8-speed automatic transmissions.
The donor car is already prepared for the conversion – it has the Magnetic Ride Control suspension, Brembo brakes, and differential cooling systems. SVE meanwhile reworks the LT1 V8 with supercharger and now displaces 6.8 liters instead of the regular’s 6.2 thanks to a stroker kit. SVE has also introduced a different crankshaft, H-beam rods and pistons and also uses the fuel system and injectors from the Corvette Z06. From the exterior one can differentiate the Yenko thanks to the bespoke badges and decals and 20-inch classic alloys – and interested buyers need to act quickly, because production will be limited to 50 examples.
