Following the quick preview of the great M5 alternative – the 2018 Alpina B5 Bi-Turbo sedan – the aftermarket company is back with a new and enticing addition to its Geneva Motor Show roster.
Yes, it’s the natural station wagon derivative that is seen here in full camouflage taking its credentials to some scenic mountain roads – with the “Alpina Burkard Bovensiepen GmbH & Co. KG” company officially announcing both B5 models will sit proudly next to each other in front of the worldwide live audience attending the Swiss event. Both new B5 Bi-Turbo models most likely feature the xDrive as an option at least – and we’re also looking forward to seeing if Alpina will premiere the hot diesel D5 as well.
The power credentials haven’t been announced yet, but we can imagine the models will at least be just as feisty as the 600 hp (441 kW) and 591 lb-ft (800 Nm) outgoing version that uses the well known biturbo 4.4-liter V8. By the way, if you still want the traditional M5 version you need to consider it will only be made as a sedan – so Alpina remains the only semi-official address if you’re a family kind of guy or gal. As for the M5, we can almost be sure the Frankfurt Motor Show this September will be the choice of venue for its unveiling.
