The high-performance sedan is getting ready for another case of mild facelift after the one performed back in 2015, adding the new M4 looks but retaining almost everything else.
This second facelift is definitely something that will be easily observed by fans alone, while everyone else will be oblivious unless specifically pointed towards the new front fascia – getting the same design as with the recently refreshed M4 Coupe. According to BMW’s M3 Life Cycle Impulse, the new performance sedan – also available in this Tanzanite Blue paint from the regular 3 Series range – 2018 model year cars will start production in July and the predecessor will cease production four months earlier. Anyways, the M3 will continue to run on the same biturbo 3.0-liter, straight-six engine good for 431 horsepower (317 kW).
The optional Competition Package is a must with its 450 hp (331 kW) and 62 mph (100 km/h) sprint in just four seconds when using the seven-speed, dual-clutch auto transmission. Aside from the obvious power increase, this factory tuning kit also comes with a reworked adaptive M suspension, exclusive 20-inch alloy wheels, an M exhaust system with black chrome tips, and a pair of sporty lightweight seats. There’s also an M4 CS in the making with even more power – a slightly detuned version of the limited-edition M4 GTS – but we’re going to have to wait a bit longer for that one and see if it trickles to the M3 sedan as well.
