The 2018 Traverse will join the Chevrolet roster in time for the North American International Auto Show in Detroit this coming January, and the company boasts it will pack segment-topping cargo and third-row space.
There’s even an official teaser image that actually doesn’t resolve any of the mysteries surrounding the new model, as it’s nothing more than a shadowy ghosting silhouette. But there are some Chevrolet details to go about and we can also make our own educated guesses (though not always accurate). Chevrolet starts by saying the 2018 Traverse is “expected to offer the segment’s best third-row legroom and maximum cargo space,” besides offering room for up to eight passengers. Since it’s going to be so accommodating, it could prove bigger than GMC’s midsize Acadia – while the previous generations were identical in size.
Meanwhile, the powertrain should be an easier fix – it could have GM’s 3.6-liter naturally aspirated V6, and even an entry-level four cylinder turbo, alongside tow and four wheel drive. No worries, though, since all mysteries will be shattered when the new Traverse comes to Detroit in front of the live audience on Monday, January 9, 2017.
