The little Italian crossover shares the same architecture as the extremely popular Jeep Renegade – but in America the city car inspired counterpart hasn’t enjoyed the same positive feedback from consumers.
You might think Fiat is going to take extreme measures to remedy the situation – but no, just a subtle update for the 2018 model year. The upgraded 500X for the new model year features the Urban and Cross versions with styling updates, both for the exterior and interior. On the outside there are two new color options – Donatello Bronze and Alpi Matte Green – which actually come down from the S-Design. The roster also comes with five different trims, Pop, Pop Star, Lounge, Cross, and City Cross – each given new customization options, along with complete new options.
Moving inside, the 500X now features a new seven-inch high-resolution touchscreen system as standard perk, with Apple CarPlay, or FCA’s next-generation Uconnect system, bundling Bluetooth connectivity, hands-free audio streaming, text message reader, and voice recognition, as well as auxiliary and USB support. A rear parking camera and TomTom 3D integrated navigation system are optional. Owners can also use the Uconnect Live services app from the App Store or Google Play Store, to gain access to Deezer, TuneIn, news from Reuters, connected navigation with TomTom Live, and Facebook Check-In and Twitter features.
