The Blue Oval company is working hard towards making sure even the untrained driver can look like a regular heavy duty when backing up at the boat ramp or setting up the camper in its place.
The aluminum-bodied 2018 Expedition full size sport utility is a good choice for families – and has been for years. Now Ford is making it even friendlier for the 2018 model year, with a new tow rating of 9,300 pounds, which Ford claims to be best-in-class for full-size SUVs. The incoming Expedition will also bundle a new feature called Pro Trailer Backup Assist – which does exactly as advertised. Using the feature is also easy – just turn a knob to direct the trailer’s turn ratio – the Expedition then maneuvers the front wheels as needed and the vehicle speed is even limited during the process.
No chance veteran haulers will need it, but we’re pretty sure it can also help rookies avoid embarrassment – or even accidents. Everyone will appreciate though the Expedition’s 9,300-pound towing capacity, which is actually good enough to attach to the hitch two F-150 single cab pickups. We still don’t know some technical details about the Expedition – such as the power rating of the EcoBoost V6, with reports of 400 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque, which is actually more torque than a 6.2-liter V8 inside a GMC Yukon.
