The German automaker has officially announced the all-new 2018 Cayenne will be presented in front of the worldwide audience at its Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen plant on August 29 before travelling to the Frankfurt Motor Show.
The event starts at 9:00 PM CEST time on August 29 and naturally Porsche will use social media to broadcast the premiere live. With such an important reveal, the manufacturer hasn’t lost the occasion to tease the third generation of the premium SUV, one of the most important models for the German sports car manufacturer. We previously saw official testing shenanigans with the Cayenne – but those were camouflaged mules that most likely used the body of the current generation. That’s because the image associated with the reveal announcement shows the new Cayenne will be a substantial departure from the current one.
It looks bigger, more dynamic and with a sharply flowing roofline that seems directly inspired by the compact Macan crossover. The new Cayenne is being constructed on the MLB Evo architecture already present inside the second-generation Audi Q7 and ready to also underpin the third generation VW Touareg. It’s set to be lighter and faster than ever, with initial choices only of the petrol nature – Porsche has decided to delay the diesel versions because of the group’s Dieselgate-related issues. We actually already know the top dog in the lineup will be the Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid, with the same powertrain as the Panamera version – 680 horsepower (507 kilowatts) and 626 pound-feet (850 Newton-meters) of torque.
