Europe’s best-selling EV, the Renault Zoe, arrives slightly updated for the 2018 model year, complete with Renault’s all-new R110 80kW electric motor, as well as subtle option changes.
Renault has recently introduced for the first time its new R110 electric motor – first available on the Zoe EV, packing 80 kW – 107 mechanical horsepower – which is an additional 12kW (16hp) more than the predecessor, the R90, while using the same space. The French automaker explains the new powerplant is delivering “greater versatility when driving outside urban areas” by offering “crisper acceleration performance on trunk roads, since the new motor shaves almost two seconds off ZOE’s 80-to-120kph time.” The new Renault R110, which also offers 225 Nm, is being produced at the brand’s Cléon plant in Normandy and was designed by engineers of the Renault Technocentre.
There are now no less than five electric motor versions – 44kW, 57 kW, 60 kW, 68 kW and 80 kW) – offered on the Kangoo Z.E., Master Z.E., ZOE and Daimler’s Electric Drive Smart models. The 2018 model-year ZOE range is also adding a few new options – a new, dark, metallic body colour: Blueberry Purple. Exclusive to the top trim Intens, the new color can be had in the new Blueberry Purple Pack that adds a violet satin finish inside, while the rest of the Zoe range can now also be had with Android Auto on the R-LINK Evolution infotainment system.
