Considering the second generation XC90 crossover debuted the Thor’s Hammer LED daylight driving light signature it’s only appropriate to name the upcoming XC60 as its little brother.
Volvo is almost ready to set anther stone to the basis of its incredible turnaround – which incidentally kicked off with the presentation of the second generation XC90 and continued with the reveal of the new S90, V90 and Cross Country. We’re now getting ready to see the Geneva Motor Show feature the debut of the compact – probably going towards midsize XC60 – and we’re not nearly done as the company has to reveal the entire 40 Series, complete with all-new XC40 compact SUV. Getting back to the XC60 we can tell you Volvo is working fast and has already showed the car’s defining features via a slew of teasers.
We first see the XC60 hiding in a garage but then immediately we can switch to the side profile of the posh SUV hiding underneath a semi-revealing cover. This grants us access to some of the details – such as window line and the LED taillight signature. Peek closer and you’ll distinguish the recess running the length of the doors or the alloy design. When the curtain falls you’ll see the XC60 has grown in size and rides well on the Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform – with mostly the same array of engines as the 90 series, and possibly some new ones that will get shared with the 40 Series.
