We already know there are those clients who love the Mercedes brand but want something even more luxurious – read opulent – than even the flagship S-Class. For them the brand has a direct answer, the Mercedes-Maybach version, now thoroughly refreshed.
It was only a matter of time before we saw the facelifted version of the Mercedes-Maybach S Class, considering all other versions of the S Class – the sedan, coupe and cabriolet – have already gone through the mid life cycle refresh. Now in time for a catwalk/red carpet arrival at the 2018 International Geneva Auto Show in March, the German company has decided to debut online the luxurious new Maybach, complete with new luxury and design amenities. The Maybach S-Class now shows even more styling differentiations from the standard S Class with a new grille that’s been inspired by the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance premiering Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 coupe from 2016.
The profile showcases the extra perks of the Maybach version, mainly the 215 inches (5,461 millimeters) length, along with a spacious 132.5-inch (3,365.5-mm) wheelbase. That’s about 10 inches (254 mm) longer in either metric compared to the standard long-wheelbase S-Class sedan… The new Maybach S-Class is getting optional two-tone paint setups for a total of nine mixes, and there are also two powertrain choices – S560 4Matic packing a turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 with 463 horsepower (345 kilowatts) and 516 pound-feet (700 Newton-meters), good enough for a sprint to 60 miles per hour (96 kilometers per hour) in 4.8 seconds. Go for the luxobarge S650 and you’ll be basking in the sound of the noble turbocharged 6.0-liter V12 with 621 hp (463 kW) and 738 lb-ft (1,001 Nm), which grants a 60 mph performance of 4.6 seconds.
