The Japanese automaker has just started to produce the MX-5 Miata roadster in its North American livery, with the first 1, 000 cars to come off the production line dubbed as Launch Edition variants.
Eager customers in the US will know that once the production of the regional model has started, they only have to wait a few short weeks before their new MX-5 Miata reaches dealer showrooms. And the first 1,000 lucky clients will also get the special MX-5 Miata Launch Edition – the Japanese firm says they will be identified via unique badging and features exclusive to the variant. The exterior will have the Soul Red paint job, while the interior will complement it with the Sport Tan leather upholstery and Advanced Keyless entry will be featured as standard for the first 1,000 cars. Other features include 17-inch alloys, leather-trimmed heated seats, auto climate control, a Bose nine-speaker audio system, AM/FM/HD/SiriusXM radio, Mazda’s Connect infotainment system with the seven-inch touchscreen monitor, a Homelink garage door opener, automated rain wipers and adaptive headlights.
Eager fans can get one by pre-registering online and then ordering one on May 5 when the orders can be placed, then a trip to the local dealer to place a deposit is needed. There’s a catch though – only selected venues will be able to actually place the orders. The standard MX-5 in Sport trim will set you back $24,915, while the better equipped MX-5 Club variant will start at $28,600 MSRP. Engine options include the 1.5 liter Skyactiv-G petrol with 129 bhp (131 PS / 96 kW) and 110 lb-ft (150 Nm) of torque and the feistier 2.0 liter Skyactiv-G.
