3.3% January Raise for Kia Motors image

Kia Motors presented a 3.3% rise in passenger cars, recreational vehicles (RVs) and commercial vehicles sales in January 2012, compared to the same period last year. Kia Motors America reported a 27.8% increase, with 39,291 units sold in the States, and 33.2% (35,852 units) in Europe.

Kia Motors posted the sales for each model in January: C-segment Cerato with 25,489 units, B-segment Rio and Sorento mid-size CUV follow with 32,288 and 14,473, Sportage compact CUV with 24,647 units, and D-segment Optima sedan with 15,459 units. Kia Motors senior executive vice president and COO Tae-Hyun (Thomas) Oh declared that this is the company’s higher January sales and that he is satisfied with the European auto market.

“We expect our momentum there to continue due to the successful December launch of all-new Optima, which was highly anticipated by European customers, and our upcoming EURO 2012 sponsorship,” Oh said.

Total sales in January were 35,517 units, compared with sales of 27,789 units in January 2010. It seems that with a new product launch cycle in the industry with nine vehicles in less than three years and the $100 million expansion of Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia (KMMG), the company is well positioned for future growth.
