A New Audi R4 Sports Convertible Is On Its Way
Audi lovers, get ready to hear some interesting news now! A new Audi R4 sports convertible (no doubt going to drive you straight into heaven since it’s very very attractive) is right on its way, preparing to demand every eye around.
It will be a smaller version of the Audi R8 supercar, but will get similar platform as will flaunt by the upcoming entry level sports cars – Porsche and Volkswagen. Rupert Stadler, the Audi AG chairman gave a green signal for the production plans of the car that will employ a new two-seater layout from the Volkswagen Group.
As per the report, the R8 will be based on the E-Tron Spyder concept that was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show late last year.
Initially, possible production of the car was considered to be very close to the Audi TT since it got good position in the market, but as per Autocar in the UK, Audi R4 will be produced as confirmed by the Audi itself. It has also been said that the car will not go on sale until the third generation TT comes out in the market.
Earlier as per the report, it has been said that the car will possess an aluminium spaceframe-type arrangement which is designed by Volkswagen, but after the introduction of the development plants in 2010 including Porsche, rumors spread across that the car will integrate some upcoming Porsche Boxster platform.
Minimum two distinct options of 4-cylinder petrol will be used to power the rear wheels of the new model. Some potential combinations of engine comprises of the upcoming Audi A3 2.0 liter 4-cylinder turbo that will produce some 170kW, a full-blown sports version including renowned 2.5 liter turbocharged 5-cylinder RS 3 unit will produce 250kW, and a twin-turbo diesel 2.0 liter 4-cylinder.
