ACEA Reports Deliveries Down in the EU in all Segments During Q1 image

ACEA reported commercial vehicle registrations in the EU in March dropped 9.8% and 11.0% for the first quarter.

In March new commercial vehicle registrations in the EU fell for the 15th consecutive month, totaling 166, 402 units, with France down 10.2%, Germany down 18.5%, Spain down 20.2% and Italy down 20.3%, while the UK was the only market which increased 7.7%. For the first quarter registrations fell 11.0%, with France down 10.7%, Germany 16.4%, Spain 18.7%, Italy 25.0%, while the UK was up 6.6%.

Last month demand for vans decreased 7.8% to 139,413 units, with France down 9.8%, Germany 16.0%, Spain 19.3%, Italy 20.0%, while the UK was up 11.5%. For the first quarter van registrations fell 9.9% in the EU to 332,473 units, with France down 10.4%, Germany 15.4%, Spain 18.7% and Italy 25.9%, while the UK increased 11.7%.

Heavy truck registrations in March fell 18.3% in the EU, with the UK down 6.2%, France 16.7%, Italy 20.5%, Germany 23.1% and Spain 27.0%. During the first quarter all major markets reported double-digit drops with the UK down 12.5%, France 16.4%, Italy 17.6%, Germany 19.2% and Spain 20.5%. The overall fall was 16.7% to 46,985 units.

Last month the steepest decline was registered in the truck segment, with deliveries falling 18.8% in the EU, including the UK down 13.4%, France 14.7%, Italy 23.3%, Germany 23.7% and Spain 26.7%. In the first quarter deliveries fell 16.8% in the EU to 62,154 units, 18.9% in Germany, 15.7% in France, 16.3% in the UK, 21.1% in Italy and 20.5% in Spain.
