There’s a new “vision of a saloon car in the compact car segment” coming from Mercedes in the form of the Aesthetics A sculpture – also serving as a preview and confirmation for the arrival of an A Class Sedan in the near future.
This means the rumors were true – Mercedes is indeed expanding once more its comprehensive compact family with a new compact sedan that will fill the ranks next to the CLA “four-door coupe.” Coming in towards the end of next year, the all-new A-Class Sedan will also arrive with a completely new design language created for the next-generation of the compact range and previewed with the Aesthetics A right now. Apparently, according to Mercedes “creases have had their day,” so the Aesthetics A comes with a flowing exterior design “stripping everything down to the essentials” by getting rid of any non-essential creases and lines.
If the new design language stays true to the sculpture concept, then there’s just one massive character line stretching across the entire side profile. There’s also a Panamericana front grille wearing vertical slats just like with the facelifted AMG GT and a subtle trunk lid spoiler lip at the back. Naturally, the new design language will be used for the entire family – A-Class, CLA, CLA Shooting Brake, GLA and the B-Class, and there are even rumors of another couple of new models to join the upcoming A Class Sedan – all riding on the second generation of Mercedes’ Modular Front Architecture (MFA).
