The successor of the popular Alfa Romeo 159 is planned to be introduced sometimes next year.
Alfa Romeo is planning to save itself and in order to do that it needs a new D-segment premium sedan. This will be offered sometimes next year in the shape of the brand new 159. The model’s name remains unknown at this time but this will be one important car as it has the tough job of going against some big German names, like the BMW 3-Series, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class or the Audi A4 and not only, because the picture also contains the Jaguar XE or the Cadillac ATS, amongst others.
According to a recent report, published by Automotive News Europe, the successor of the Alfa Romeo 159 will not be named the Giulia and this will grow in size. The vehicle will be offered with a wide range of petrol and diesel engines. The first units to see daylight will be the 2.0 liter turbo petrol burners, which will range between 180 HP and 330 HP, connected to manual and automated transmissions. A four-cylinder 2.2 liter turbo diesel will be offered later, with 135 – 210 HP. The new model will be RWD or AWD, depending on the selected version, and it will gain, later on, a 2.9L V6 petrol burner, derived from the one which Ferrari will produce for the Maserati Ghibli.
