Premium automaker Alfa Romeo says the production version of the Alfa 4C rear-wheel-drive coupe will be a sold around the world, including the United States.
The Alfa Romeo 4C Concept will be equipped with a 1.7-litre turbocharged petrol engine that is expected to churn out more than 200 hp of power.
The compact (13 feet long on a 95-inch wheelbase) two-seater uses a similar, lightweight carbon and aluminum architecture to the Alfa 8C that brings the 4C in at a mere 1,800 pounds.
That lightweight will enable, says the Fiat-owned brand, a top speed of more than 155 mph and a zero-to-60-mph time of less than five seconds.

The halo car “will bring us back into markets such as the United States, where we are not present today,” Alfa CEO Harald Wester said Tuesday, adding that the 4C will go into production in late 2012.
Pricing will be confirmed later, but a guide is about 45,000 euros (approx £35,000). Best get your order in quick, as Alfa has only modest production in mind – about 1,5000 units globally.
