The Italian based automaker Alfa Romeo is planning to introduce its 4C sports car in 2013, as a production version.
The fact that Alfa Romeo will put the 4C concept into production is not a surprise anymore as inautonews.com has written not too long ago, but until now, we didn’t know when the new Italian sports car will hit the market. According to the automotive journalists at autocar.co.uk, Alfa Romeo will launch the production version of the 4C in 2013 and its price will stand around 45.000 EUR. Our source is also telling us that the Alfa Romeo 4C is expected to weigh just 900 kg (1.984lbs) and the vehicle should come with the company’s 1.750 cc four-cylinder, direct-injected, turbocharged engine.
As a reminder, the Alfa Romeo 4C concept has made its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September and it was about four meters long, with a mid-engine and a rear-wheel drive layout, being made with lightweight materials from which carbon fiber couldn’t miss. The Alfa Romeo 4C concept has been powered by a 1.7 liter turbocharged petrol engine, the same one used on the Giulietta model, mated to a twin dry-clutch transmission. Rumors said that the concept was packing 232 horsepower which helped the 0 to 100 km/h sprint being done in less than five seconds.
