The Italian based automaker Alfa Romeo has recently announced that the MiTo model will get a new 0.9 liter TwinAir engine which is generating 85 horsepower.
After the same engine has been installed onto models like the Fiat 500, Fiat Panda, Fiat Punto or the Lancia Ypsilon, time has come for the Alfa Romeo MiTo to get it under its hood. According to the car manufacturer, the all-new 0.9 liter engine will be offered on the Alfa Romeo MiTo as an option to the current 1.4 liter and its 78 HP and 105 HP output versions. Alfa Romeo says that the new 0.9 liter TwinAir engine is developing a total output of 85 horsepower, at 5,500 rpm, and it has a peak torque of 145 Nm, available from 2,000 rpm.
The 0.9 liter TwinAir engine will allow the Alfa Romeo MiTo to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 12.6 seconds before reaching a top speed of 172 km/h. The new unit will help the model to burn an average of 4.2 liters of fuel every 100 km and emit just 98 g/km of CO2, a record for its segment. The same engine has been named the 2011 Engine of the Year.
