Ally Financial CEO Michael Carpenter Joins Autobytel Board image

Ally Financial CEO Michael Carpenter has joined Autobytel’s board of directors, an online auto shopping service.

Carpenter is Ally Financial CEO, one of the most prestigious auto financial services companies, which offers complete financing services and products. The company’s direct bank subsidiary, Ally Bank, offers customers deposit products, while Ally’s commercial finance unit offers financing to middle-market companies.

Fuchs, Chairman of the Board of Directors. “His broad business, operational and financial experience, most recently in the automotive sector, will serve us well as we continue to leverage strong demand from our manufacturer and retail customers.”

Carpenter’s previous work experience includes companies such as Travelers Life & Annuity where he was chairman and CEO, Travelers Group Inc. where he served as a vice chairman, from 1989 to 1994 he was chairman of the board, president and CEO of Kidder Peabody Group Inc, from 1986 to 1989 he served as an executive vice president of GE Capital Corporation and also held different positions at General Electric, Boston Consulting Group, and Imperial Chemical Industries. From 2002 to 2006 Carpenter was chairman and CEO of Citigroup Alternative Investments, and in 2007 he founded Southgate Alternative Investments.
