With Nürburgring lap times going down this year like fish in a barrel, it shouldn’t surprise us that even aftermarket specialists are becoming obsessed with the infamous Nordschleife.
For example German tuner Alpha-N Performance is also interested in taking part in the Green Hell time attack challenge madness – the specialist headquartered close to the iconic track has decided its latest project should revolve around the iconic circuit. They took a regular M4 Coupe and started off with a “bespoke software” for the biturbo 3.0-liter straight-six engine – coming out with no less than 560 horsepower, way better than what the standard M4 gives away, but also 60 ponies above the limited edition hardcore M4 GTS. So, in case you were left out and couldn’t snatch a factory version, Alpha-N is a good address to inquire about extra availability of something that can beat the M4 GTS.
The tuner also used the gearbox software from the GTS, borrowed the differential and the settings for the stability control system and came up with a unique suspension setup courtesy of an adjustable Öhlins’ coilover, while for extra design credence they used a set of lightweight 20-inch OZ Racing wheels. Lightweight parts are used in and out – a custom carbon fiber hood, unique front bumper, carbon fiber rear wing while the cockpit has been graced with lightweight Recaro bucket seats. After finishing the project, the tuner took their M4 around the 73 corners of the Nürburgring in 7 minutes in 20 seconds – with the M4 GTS having previously established a best time of 7:28.
