Mercedes’ AMG is looking into the development of a brand new hypercar, which will go hybrid, and it will rival the impressive Porsche 918 Spyder.
If you were wondering why Mercedes isn’t doing anything in order to create a rival for the impressive Ferrari LaFerrari, for the McLaren P1 and for the Porsche 918 Spyder, think again, because the German based automaker is apparently looking into the development of such a vehicle, in the near future. The answer to such a question has been recently answered by the AMG boss, Tobias Moers, who said “We want to be seen by the public on the same level a other sports car maker in Germany”.
We are not sure at this time whether the brand new German hybrid supercar will actually hit the market, but if it will, rumor has it that it might adopt the 4.0 liter V8 engine, which is currently found under the hood of the AMG GT sports car, and not only, producing 700 HP (522 kW). The internal combustion engine will be backed up by two electric motors, from the technology found on the SLS AMG Electric Drive and this basically means a total output of approximately 1,000 HP (746 kW). The AMG hybrid supercar is apparently a few years away so even if it will be getting the green lights, we should expect it to be unveiled close to the end of the decade. More details on it are limited at this time.
