Only 1, 964 units of the Mustang 50th Anniversary Edition will be produced, and the first batch could become a Ford affair. No. 1 goes to Bill Ford, CEO Mark Fields is up on the list, Joe Hinrichs, Ford president of the Americas, is also there.
Even the chief engineer that catered for the project – Dave Pericak – is in the Top 10, on the eighth position. By the looks of it, the 2015 Mustang 50-Year Limited Edition, would actually never leave the headquarters parking lots, at least when it comes to the first vehicles off the production line.
“This vehicle is personal to people,” said Steve Ling, North American marketing manager. “Some of the biggest fans are within the company and it is great that the leadership is so interested. “Bill Ford gets No. 1,” Ling added. “Nobody is a bigger (Mustang) fan.”
The limited series is based on the GT coupe and will come exclusively painted in the Kona Blue or the original Wimbledon White shades. The latter was the hue present on the first ever Mustang sold back in 1964. The model is only powered by the 5-liter V8 equipped with the performance pack and unique 19-inch wheels. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic and we also have on board better tires and brakes, more chrome and aluminum, and the usual anniversary logos together with a numbered plaque.
