An image depicting the second generation of the Audi R8 supercar has hit the web recently ahead of its public debut which has been scheduled for the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, next month.
There is no surprise anymore that Audi is currently working on a new generation of the R8 as the supercar has been caught on camera several times by spy photographers over the last few months but with its public debut scheduled for the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, in March, the model should be ready to hit the streets.
The image posted below has been uploaded by dreboog, an Instagram user, who says he has received it from an Audi insider. We are not sure at this time whether this is the real deal or just a good aftermarket body kit, so we will have to wait for the Swiss automotive event in order to see how the new Audi R8 will look like.
The 2016 Audi R8 will be using the same 5.2 liter V10 engine currently found on the Huracan, which is basically an updated version of the old unit. This is expected to produce the same output as the one in the Italian supercar, 602 HP (449 kW) and 560 Nm (413 lb-ft) of torque, which should be enough to allow it to reach a top speed of 325 km/h (202 mph) and 100 km/h from a standstill in 3.2 seconds. The model will be offered with the Quattro all-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive will only be available for a track-only car.
