An image showing what is believed to be the upcoming Porsche 911 R has ended up onto the web.
The Porsche 911 R is close to hitting the market and becoming a final production vehicle from a simple rumor. However, until the German based automaker will decide to confirm such a model, everything on it is pure speculation, but we cannot simply ignore the image posted above. The photo is believed to give us a glimpse into the upcoming model, which will be loved by purists.
The sports car will be based on the current generation of the 911 but it will be getting some retro styling, reminding us of the classic Porsche vehicles. Rumor has it that it will be produced in a limited number, somewhere between 600 and 800 units, and it is aimed towards hardcore fans. The sports car is paying tribute to the original 910 911 R and, if it will be anything similar to this one, it will get a nice and clean body.
The rendering is actually giving away its GT3-roots because of the center lock wheels. We also have to mention its green stripes and the Porsche decals added to its side. The ducktail spoiler is also visible. Rumor has it that this will be using the same engine as the 911 GT3, meaning that we should expect a 3.8 liter boxer unit, producing 475 HP (349 kW) and 438 Nm (324 lb-ft) of torque. However, instead of the 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, a 6-speed manual gearbox is expected.
