Ariel Motors has officially unveiled the Atom 3.5R which will have a starting price of 80,000 GBP in the United Kingdom.
The brand new Ariel Atom 3.5R has been officially unveiled, days after the first details of the model have been released. A track day toy with an 80,000 GBP (97,500 EUR / 135,000 USD), this is the best way to describe Ariel’s newest creation, the 3.5R. The model in question weighs in at just 550 kg (1,212 lbs) and it has Ohlins springs, TTX adjustable dampers, a limited slip differential, four ventilated disc brakes with four-piston calipers, along with other new bits and pieces.
The Ariel Atom 3.5R is taking its power form a 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine, signed by Honda and found on the Civic Type R, which has been modified with a sidepod mounted intercooler and with an increased boost, from 7.5 to 11 psi. The total output produced by the unit stands at 350 HP (261 kW), at 8,400 rpm, from the standard 310 HP (231 kW). This is translated into a 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) acceleration made in 2.5 seconds and a 0 to 100 mph (160 km/h) sprint made in 6 seconds. Ariel says that the Atom 3.5R will not be imported to the United States but a similar version will be announced soon.
