Here’s another exotic brand looking to secure the wallet and heart of affluent drivers from around the world – Italy’s Automobili Turismo e Sport – or ATS – a make that has quite the history behind it.
The company has been around, one way or another, since way back in 1962 – in 2016 it rekindled the flame for automotive creations, revealing the circuit-exclusive Dieci model, motivated by a 1.0-liter Honda motorcycle engine producing 190 horsepower (141 kilowatts). The brand is now teasing something much more powerful – just in time for the official introduction at the upcoming Salon Privein Oxfordshire, England. ATS is going to showcase there a new supercar, developed from scratch – and so far, called the GT, with the codename joined by a lone, shadowy teaser sketch.
Unfortunately, there isn’t much else in terms of details – no price, no performance details. What we do know is the idea belonged to chief engineer Emanuele Bomboi – and just 12 examples will see the light of day. Of course lightweight components such as a carbon fiber bodywork, and carbon fiber elements for the interior and chassis are to be expected. “This is a pivotal day for ATS and our new supercar,” comments owner Daniele Maritan. “We use words such as ‘challenge, adventure, and passion’ to represent the values that were shared among all the founders of ATS in 1962.”
