The German car manufacturer Audi will introduce a diesel engine for its small A1 model, after its main rival, the Mini Cooper SD, received a similar unit.
The new diesel version of the A1 will be equipped with a 2.0 liter engine which will be developing 143 horsepower, exactly the same as its main competitor, the Mini Cooper SD.
Audi A1 already has a diesel version, a 1.6 liter TDI which is developing 105 horsepower, but in order for the car to stay close to the competition, the new 2.0 liter unit will be added to the range.
The smallest car in Audi’s line-up will also get an “S” version, with the 1.6 liter FSI turbo engine developing 225 horsepower.
Details about performance, fuel consumption or the price weren’t made public by the Germans. The new A1 version powered by the 2.0 liter TDI engine will be officially presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
