Being originally presented last year at the Geneva Motor Show, the A8 Hybrid was unveiled by Audi less than a month before its official presentation during the Frankfurt Motor Show.
According to the automaker, the A8 Hybrid is powered by a 2.0 liter turbocharged TFSI engine, developing 211 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque (258 lb-ft), along with an electric motor which is delivering 40 kW and 210 Nm of torque.
By combining the two powerplants the A8 Hybrid puts out a total of 245 horsepower and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mpg) in 7.7 seconds, with a top speed of 235 km/h (146 mph).
The new A8 Hybrid can’t be called a slow car and it does all this with an average fuel consumption of only 6.4 liters per 100 kilometers (36.8 mpg US), with CO2 emissions of 148 grams per km.
The exterior design of the newest eco-friendly luxury vehicle hasn’t changed, but the car now sits on 21 inch wheels compared to the 18 of the concept.
